Sponsoring creators

The Widgets in the Widget Library are built by people in the Blotch community. You can thank the ones you love by sponsoring them.

  1. In the Console, open the creator's profile
  2. Choose Sponsor
  3. Choose Monthly or One-off
  4. Pick an amount, or type your own
  5. Choose Continue and pay on the secure Stripe checkout page

Not every creator can receive sponsorships. If a creator's profile has no Sponsor button, they haven't set up payouts yet.

Monthly or one-off

  • Monthly: you pay the same amount every month until you cancel. Monthly sponsorships count towards becoming a Patron.
  • One-off: you pay once. One-off sponsorships don't count towards becoming a Patron.

Amounts

You can give any amount from £3 to £500. Sponsorships are paid in pounds sterling (GBP).

How much reaches the creator

The creator receives 90% of what you give. Blotch keeps 10% to cover the cost of taking the payment and paying the creator.

Before you pay, the sponsor window shows how much the creator will receive.

Receipts

Stripe emails you a receipt for every payment, whether it's monthly or one-off.

Cancel a monthly sponsorship

  1. Go to the Console
  2. Open My Account Settings from the gear button on your dashboard
  3. Choose the Membership & Support tab
  4. Choose Manage billing to open Stripe's billing portal
  5. Find the sponsorship and cancel it

Your sponsorship carries on until the end of the month you've already paid for, then stops. You won't be charged again.

If a creator can't be paid

Sometimes Stripe needs more details from a creator before it can pay them. Until they sort it out, their monthly sponsorships are paused and you aren't charged.

A paused sponsorship doesn't count towards becoming a Patron while it's paused.

Become a Patron

When your monthly sponsorships add up to £50 or more a month, you become a Patron. It counts every creator you sponsor, so two sponsorships of £25 a month are enough.

Patron includes everything in Pro, plus a Patron badge on your profile. Sponsoring anyone at all also earns you a Supporter badge.

See Plans to compare Patron with the other plans.
